Spring 2026 Grants – Supporting the 2026-27 School Year
District Grants = $151,500
$20,000 – Complex Instruction (Secondary Math Curriculum): Staff Professional Development The opportunity for staff to work with Dr. Kentaro Iwasaki, Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Harvard University, on the math leveling-up initiative.
$10,000 – Summer Curriculum: Stipends
Providing essential time for staff to collaborate on the development of new and revised curriculum across subject areas, as well as interdisciplinary initiatives that address specific student needs (advanced learning, specially-designed instruction for students with disabilities, and project-based learning)
$31,500 – K-8 Diagnostic and Intervention Tools: Software licenses (Eureka Equip, Lexia IXL, Zuern Math)
Digital diagnostic and intervention tools (reading, math, extra practice) provide specialists, classroom teachers, and interventionists with resources that can be tailored to specific student needs.
$90,000 – Curriculum, Materials and Training Investments: Science and math materials/equipment ($61,000) and training/expenses ($29,000)
Classroom materials, equipment, and curriculum as well as training and curriculum planning time for teachers.

$4,400 – SHS Science: 3D Molecular Design Biology Manipulatives (Yoselin Martinez)
Students can see science happening right before their eyes whether it’s identifying essential enzymes, copying DNA into mRNA using an RNA polymerase, or engaging in protein synthesis.
$5,000 – Band Program: Original composition commission (Kyle Amati)
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of band in Shorewood School District, we will commission a new musical work by internationally recognized Milwaukee-area band composer Michael Sweeney. This piece will be performed by all 400+ band students in grades 4-12 at the 2027 Band-O-Rama.
$8,790 – Project Lead the Way: 10 digital printers for SIS (Dustin Slusser)
New 3D printers at SIS for Project Lead the Way classes provide a needed upgrade of equipment that is both heavily used and not compatable with new technology.
$3,000 – New Horizons: “Newt” Boat Building Project (Lisa McFarland)
New Horizons students will collaborate to build a small wooden boat called “The Newt” under the guidance of All Hands Boatworks. Students engage in the full process of building a real vessel—from planning and measuring to cutting, fastening, and finishing—providing an authentic, rigorous, and deeply engaging learning experience.
$6,444 – SHS Econ/Finance: Smart Board (Evan Schmidt)
Students in economics and financial literacy courses will benefit from technology that enables hands-on engagement with real-world personal financial simulations, live data, and dynamic economic models.
$4,122 – SIS Orchestra: Electric piano and instrument repairs (Melissa Honigman)
Repair of bows and stringed instruments and a new electric piano.
$1,000 – AT & LB PE: GaGa Pit (Dom Newman)
A portable Gaga pit to be utilized by Lake Bluff, Atwater and the Recreation department for in-school and after-school programs.
